Diarrhea: Diarrhea after a salmonella infection can be due to continuing infection(until cultures of stool are negative),antibiotic associated diarrhea(if you were given them), or post infectious irritable bowel syndrome  which can last weeks. Your physician,who knows all your findings, can advise you best.

Liquid diet: It can, but it really depends on what you are drinking. Normally, just drinking liquids doesn't give you diarrhea. If the liquids contain a high amount of sugar, fats, or dairy (among other things), it is possible that your GI tract may not handle that well and the result can be diarrhea.

im on day 4 of pre-op liquid diet. today i took my doxycycline and ive had diarhea and cramps all day. is that to be expected??

Diarrhea: You could be having antibiotic related diarrhea, viral or bacterial intestinal infection,or reaction to a substance in your liquid diet. I feel that you should report these symptoms to the attending physician and the operating surgeon who may want to send you for stool culture and possibly defer surgery.

ive been on flagyl and cefdinir for 5 days and a liquid diet for 3 for diverticulitis. still running a 99.2 temp in the afternoons and have very dark watery diarrhea. is this normal?

: 99.2F isn't really a fever (98.6F isn't the maximum normal, just the average over the course of a day; up to 99.5 is normal). And if you had fever but the trend in your temperature is downward, probably all is OK. Diarrhea could be a side effect of the antibiotics. If still uncertain, contact the doc treating you; or do so immediately if temp rises again over 100F, or for pain, cramping or blood.

i have.a stomach virus. came close to vomiting four days ago but never did and still haven't. no diarrhea, just constipated with loose stool. advised to reduce to liquid diet and take anti-diarrheal but i don't understand why. any ideas?

Stomach virus?: Generally speaking, a stomach virus or a foodborne illness was generally last up to 3 to 5 days. In looking at the symptoms you have described, there certainly are other possibilities that this could be. If you remain symptomatic, it would be more wise to readdress the diagnosis that you try to treat the individual symptoms. I would recommend he follow up with your doctor again.

5 yr old daughter vomiting & diarrhea is it ok to give zofran (ondansetron) & pepto. if so, how much & how often? started over an hr ago. liquid diet until better?

NO!: Never give a prescription med not prescribed to a person without permission of that person's doctor.  Also, adult Pepto-bismol should not be given to children 16 years and younger.  Read labels  Try sips (1-2 tsps) of flat 7-up/sprite every 10 minutes for a couple of hours, then gradually increase amount slowly as long as its not being vomited.  See MD if no better in 12-24 hours on clear liquids

Constipation: I recommend fiber, magnesium, walking or other exercise, and getting your thyroid function checked.

Weight gain: Most likely you lost weight from the pancreatitis and you are now recovering well.
How much did you lose when you had pancreatitis?
How much have you gained since treatment began?

If you still don't feel well please go back to the doctor who was caring for your pancreatitis.

Be Careful with this: You can lose a great deal of weight on a liquid diet, but it must be balanced so you do not lose important electrolytes. It must also contain the right Amino Acids ( the building blocks of proteins) and essential fats your body cannot make itself.  In the 70s people died on poor products. In short, don't try this without medical supervision as it can become life threatening very quickly.
