: Ketogenic means that which is produced after protein breakdown after ingestion. Yes Bun goes up but noemal kidney function can handle it. Remember too much of a good thing is not necessarily a good thing. Best is normal contolled diet and exercise. Good luck.

Round person: The ketogenic diet is high in fat and low in carbohydrate.  There is much debate as to how healthy this diet truly is.  I have seen patients have temporary success with this diet only to gain weight back when they resume a normal diet.

I personally think the best way to lose weight for good is to eat smaller portion sizes and maintain an active lifestyle.

Little to non: The ketogenic diet has some benefits on weight and lipid profiles but studies has shown it leads to elevated pro and inflammatory markers .Hence  healthy reduction in  calories , no processed food or sugar beverages and exercise is a better way

Drastic fasting or ketogenic diet does not confer long term benefits since you can be sure that you will gain even more weight after that,

Lifestyle change: Your physician can give you better advice. "endomorph" is a subscientific term rather than a true body type, let alone a destiny. I suspect that even healthtap members who are sympathetic to various "pop" diets will mostly agree that in the long-term, you help will come from reprogramming yourself about fitness activities & healthy eating. If you are very obese, consider bariatric surgery early.

Its in the Low GI: This means you concentrate on low glycemic index foods.Foods w a GI less than 55.This allows you to stay in a ketogenic state.U don't sacrifice an entire days food choices so that every item is below 55.U look at an overall meal or a days meal plan and see if the average GI of all items taken as a whole is below 55.Make smart choices and above all else exercise & drink 64 oz's of h2o/day.

Complicated question: With renal insufficiency, metformin can cause lactic acidosis. So on the surface, there is not a risk of ketoacidosis. But if you eliminate all carbs you may not need metformin, and an extreme ketogenic diet can cause many symptoms and metabolic derangements that i would not want to combine with metformin. Suggestion:  moderation. Enough carbs to limit ketosis, and check glu daily. See your md.

Not healthy: None of the fad diets are good for you. If you need to lose weight, eat less.
