No: You don't get  crutches after a knee is drained. You can do a lot of things, even drive a car, after a leg is drained.

Arthocentesis: "draining" a knee joint is known known as an arthrocentesis or joint aspiration.  The cost is typically around $75-100, but i would recommend calling the office of a local orthopaedic surgeon first to check.  An initial evaluation will need to be performed first to determine if draining the knee is necessary first- this will be a separate charge.

It depends: Sometimes it will resolve on its own. If there is an internal injury to the knee, fluid may continue to form. Have it checked out.

Drain: Until you can contact your physician. Apply intermitttent cold  on 20min off 20 min.

Unexplained effusion: Have you had an MRI yet?  You may have articulat cartilage or a meniscal injury. Blood tests can help rule out rheumatologic diseases. Infection sounds unlikely. I recommend you to be evaluated by an orthopaedic doc or if you already have done this, get a 2nd opinion.

i have a bursa sac that filled during high school. it has led to no issues, other than being a huge sac to the left of my knee, and below it. is there a health concern given that it has always been filled for 14 years? should i get it drained?

Most likely : depending on the amount of u if removed, and how easy the procedure is and accompanying medical condition, you should be able to walk after tbs procedure. You may bs asked to use a knee brace to help in the recovery process.

Varies : There is not a set limit.  Every time you do drain it, there is risk of introducing infection.  Three times is a general rule.  The bigger wuestion is why it keeps occurring and what can be done.   A detailed exam and appropriate studies can determine the cause and options for treatment.

Arthritis problem: Arthritis is a very general term that just means inflammation of a joint and that is exactly what you have.  It could be from infection, trauma, neoplasm or autoimmune-type(rheumatoid) but, you really should not have any of these problems at the age of 21. You have an MRI scheduled and your doctor will no doubt order lab studies on the fluid. Take it easy until results come back. Good luck to you.
