after starting a beta blocker.i have a hard time taking in a deep breath. no pain. no wheezing. o2 97-100%. been to er no pe no lung congestion. have mild diastolic dysfunction. have nodules on thyroid. do not have asthma or copd.

: There is no way to tell by looking at ground glass opacity what it is due to because it is a very non-specific finding. So, it depends on what the thyroid nodule is diagnosed as whether or not the lung ground glass opacity could be related. If the thyroid nodule is benign, then it is less likely to be the etiology of the lung ground glass opacity. See a lung doctor for the lung opacity. Good luck!

Could be: There is a possibility of secondaries from thyroid carcionima to to deposited in the lungs. But will have to check with a physician to see if the symptoms match and also need to possibly biopsy the nodes and the nodule.

what does this mean please?? there is a groundglass opacity seen within left upper lobe of lung. reffered for another ct of chest in 3months. should i be worried? the ct was for a thyroid nodule?

: Ground glass opacity means there is some inflammation in that area but it is a very non-specific finding. There are many things that can cause this so if you are not having any respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath, cough, etc., then repeating in 3 months is helpful. This can get better on its own but, if it doesn’t, see a lung doctor.

within the right thyroid, a well circumscribed heterogeneously enhancing hypodense nodule, measuring 2.5 cm was found on a ct scan of the parathyroids. lung cancer was also incidentally picked up. could the thyroid nodule be cancer as well?

: Yes, the Thyroid nodule can be cancerous. It is not uncommon for tumors to spread to the Thyroid gland. So it could be a spread of lung Cancer to your Thyroid gland. Alternatively Primary Thyroid cancer can be present independently of your Lung Cancer. Depending on the stage of Lung Cancer, the thyroid nodule may need to be biopsied to determine its histologic type and if it may need to be removed

my brother has a pe and a mass on lung with thyroid nodules. never smoked. he is hospital 5 days inr still 1.1. cat scan says possiable cancer. how will we know for sure ?

Biopsy when stable: The current studies suggest that there may be a cancer. The source could be the lung or thyroid. This could also be benign, but with the pe it will need further workup.
After the pe is stabilized a biopsy is the only way to know.

i have a benign thyroid nodule. i have an appointment withthe endocrinologist in three weeks. i have swelling in my body, severe muscle and body pain and discomfort in chest. what are my options?

Benign nodule: Your symptoms are most likely not related to a thyroid nodule, esp if benign. Hypothyroidism can cause the symptoms you describe but could be evaluated with a simple blood test. If the endo does not find a cause, see a good internist. You may want a concurrent visit since you are in such discomfort.  Hypothyroidism is easy to treat by a good internist as well.

Ynrelated: The thyroid finding has nothing to do with the chest and shoulder pain. It does need evaluation by a doctor.

Several things: It could be a colloid cyst - an accumulation of thyroid hormone.  It could be a benign adenoma - an area of thyroid gland that is growing slightly differently/faster than the rest of the gland.

Most physicians follow benign thyroid nodules to see if they are growing or changing, which may necessitate another biopsy.
