Several things: It could be a colloid cyst - an accumulation of thyroid hormone. It could be a benign adenoma - an area of thyroid gland that is growing slightly differently/faster than the rest of the gland. Most physicians follow benign thyroid nodules to see if they are growing or changing, which may necessitate another biopsy.
