Barium is pushed: Backward into your colon via an enema. This seems to just mean that the barium reached your descending colon which is on the left side of the abdomen. It must first pass retrograde through rectum and sigmoid.

Under ribs: The transverse colon crosses from the left to right under your ribs(usually).Distal means away from beginning(right lower abdomen). I suspect the polyp was under your left rib cage.The important part is repeat colonoscopy at interval recommended by the GI dr.

Yes: A gastroenterologist is best qualified to answer your question and treat you, but it's quite likely that enema treatments will not be adequate to treat ascending colon involvement.

Colon cancer: I would advocate having the procedure done as soon as technically possible 
waiting weeks is generally ok but not months , unless the delay is to undergo neoadjuvant therapy.
