Wash: Rinse off with tap water. Then throw away the polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin). Polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) is useless and may cause allergic reactions.

Usually about a week: Dissolving sutures are usually gone in about 7-10 days. However, if the inside of the nose dries out then they can take longer to dissolve. You should liberally use saline spray inside the nose to keep the area moist which will hasten healing and improve comfort after septoplasty surgery.

: It should not have any effect on the stitches if they are still there which I doubt.

: If the sutures were dissolvable, it should fall off on its own. Give it a couple of days. If it has fallen off by then, you may try to cut it out though it would be preferable for your podiatrist to do that.

Should not : The length of time it takes the stitches to dissolve however will vary, and ranges from a week to six months. Most absorbable sutures used for skin closure dissolve within a month or so. Hope this helps!

Which type?: There are many types of dissolvable sutures (vicryl, monocryl, generics, etc) and each type has it's only rate of body absorption.  Generally, they start to lose strength at 1-2 weeks and can take up to 3-6 months or more for complete dissolution.
