6 to 8 weeks: For a healthy individual, bone normally takes 6-8 weeks to heal.  If you're still having pain and swelling 3 months in, you may want to see the doctor treating you for this for follow up xrays.  It is possible that the fracture fragments shifted or that the fracture line hasn't healed yet.  This is called a delayed union.

Shoe fitting problem: It could heal in a bad position. This could lead to a fused toe in a bad position leading to shoe wear problems.

May need surgery: if a fracture has healed in poor alignment, you may need surgery to have it corrected.

Maybe a second look.: I would think that ten days is enough time to allow you to walk with some mild to moderate pain. Since you are seeing new bruising something else should be considered. While enjoying the toe fracture, did you fracture something else that is now affecting you recovery. You need to get the foot x-rayed and check for other fractures. Nsaids should take the edge off and perhaps an accommodating shoe.

i have been told i have a non displaced avulsion in great toe knuckle, the last joint before the nail.  can a boot truly stabilize it?

Stop moving around!!: A boot might certainly help if the boot can satisfactorily hold the toe with enough stability. Another method would be to apply the stabilizing force directly to the toe. A compression wrap or taping for instance could to the trick. A combination of boot and splint might be best. Without seeing the x-ray, this is all hypothetical, remember that. Why not see a specialist?

i broke my big toe and is displaced but really don't want surgery.  is it really necessary to have surgery and just let it heal slowly the way it is?

Your choice: If you want to deal with an obviously deformed toe that will be evident to strangers you can skip the treatment. Over time the body could heal. However, it could settle into a form of non-union where the parts never quite mend &amp; remains painful for the foreseeable future. If you are uncomfortable with the 1st doc, get a second opinion.

do i need crutches for my broken toe. it is slightly displaced and i can't walk on it.

No: Buddy tape it to the adjacent toe and wear a hard shoe that doesn't bend at the toes for support. Follow up with your GP for X-Rays if not better in a few days.

1.5 weeks ago i got a non-displaced 5th metatarsal break. overall bruising has gone down but there's new bruising on my middle toes. is this normal?

Common: Yes as the blood travels through the tissue plains of the foot it will leave bruising distally in the toes.  As long as there was no further trauma or injury then this is completely normal and will take awhile to go away.  I hope this is useful.

is a displaced metatarsal normal? i have severe foot pain dr said have displaced metatarsal and was normal post osteotomy. should i seek a second opinion? also walking my third toe turns red, had osteotomy 2nd and 3rd metatarsals 8 months ago.

Unlikely: Displaced phalangeal fracture bleeds into the tissue quite a bit. crush feeling is likely pressure phenomenon from internal splint effect of swelling.  Keep it elevated about six inches above your heart level.
