Not worrisome: probably not a worry unless its below lamina and may start to compress the collection of nerve rootlets below it over time - sounds like you had a trauma in the past, there was a small fracture of the spinous process (which in and of itself might be painful for a few weeks but likely will heal and come to nothing)  and now the healing is leading to some bone formation in the vicinity

8 weeks: Most people are doing well by about 8 weeks.  The nice thing about an isolated fracture of the transverse process is that the stability of the spine is not affected and so there are not set restrictions.  The down side is that they can be quite painful.

i fractured a transverse process a little over a month ago, i have started walking and biking, when will it be safe for me to lift weights again?

Fracture: The transverse processes are the little wings that stick out from the side of the lumbar vertebra.  Small muscles attach to them.  Any fracture takes 6-12 weeks to heal.  Sometimes these little parts of the bone don't heal back normally, but this is rarely a problem.  I recommend my patients to hold off on heavy lifting for 6-8 weeks after an injury like this.

what is the rehabilitation process for hip fractures like?

Physical therapy: Working with a physical therapist to increase range of motion, strength and improve gait is generally recommended.  Patients usually start with a walker and progress to a cane or no assistance with time.  Early weight bearing is encouraged in most cases.

At least 6 weeks: Fractures take at least 6 weeks to heal, then count on atleast 6 more weeks to regain the strength to the area.  A transverse process fracutre is not a bad fracture, it does not arequire surgery.

it has been two months since i fractured my greater tuberosity in a fall. it wasn't displaced and it healed with just a sling. now that it has gotten colder i am feeling achy at the site of the break. is this normal? the condition comes and goes.

Pain: Unfortunately this can occur. One option you can discuss with your medical provider is use of acupuncture to help reduce inflammation in the area of the fracture. Take care

Position: If the fracture line(s) do not change the overall alignment of the bone, the fracture is described as nondisplaced.  If the alignment of the bone is disrupted, the fracture is displaced.

Exam: You would definitely want to be fully examined to rule out any associated ligamentous injury to the ankle or knee, which is fairly common with that fracture.  If it is truly an "isolated" fracture, patients can gradually increase their weight bearing as tile rated and are usually doing well by about 6-8 weeks.  Discuss your specific case with your doctor.
