Thyroid: Thyroid nodules are projections from the gland can be 'hot' or 'cold' meaning they may or may not function and produce hormone. These need follow up. Goiter is when the gland is enlarged and this can occur from iodine deficiency and other entities.

Yes &amp; no: Hi. Goiter refers to abnormal size/shape of thyroid. Goiters can be diffuse or nodular or both. If you have a nodule (aka nodular goiter) and you're NOT hyperthyroid, it could be a cancer, and needs an evaluation for that (fine needle aspiration biopsy). Most nodules are benign when you look at all nodules, but you can't assume benignity. It must be evaluated. Good luck!

Not exactly: Thyroid nodules are specific growths coming out of the thyroid gland. A goiter refers to diffuse enlargement of the entire thyroid gland. Nodules and goiters look different on thyroid imaging and usually indicate different problems.

However, one could also have a multinodular goiter, in which the thyroid gland has many nodules that cause the entire gland to be enlarged.

That is what it sounds like: I'm not clear what all of your code letters are, people with Hashimoto's thyroiditis have antibodies against thyroid tissue. You need an evaluation to see if these antibodies have affected the thyroid gland. Sometimes in this setting you can have an underactive thyroid and other times you can have an overactive thyroid. An evaluation by your physician or endocrinologist to help clarify your issues

Your : Your thyroid situation needs to be thoroughly evaluated. The vascular rims per se are not in and of themselves serious. If there is increased blood flow inside the nodules, that would be more worrisome. However, your symptoms indicate there could be significant thyroid problems which would need to be addressed soon. I suggest you see an endocrinologist.

Don't worry--Treat!: You're certainly hypothyroid, at the very least.

A high TSH means your thyroid is not doing its job, and needs some help.  You need to be followed by a knowledgeable physician who is comfortable with treating hypothyroidism.

You're probably symptomatic with a TSH that high.  It may be simple to treat, just by adjusting your dose of thyroid replacement.  That may take care of everything.
