What is the difference between thyroid nodules (thyroid normal size with several nodules on left an right side) and goiter?

Thyroid: Thyroid nodules are projections from the gland can be 'hot' or 'cold' meaning they may or may not function and produce hormone. These need follow up. Goiter is when the gland is enlarged and this can occur from iodine deficiency and other entities.
