Complex, see MD: Too complex for a brief reply. E. fecalis could be a contaminant, not actually responsible for any infection. And it's difficult to think of a genital infection (UTI, prostatitis, seminal vesciulitis, etc) that would not respond to the antibiotics you've already taken. If they didn't work, I doubt augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) will. Discuss with your doctor and/or an infectious diseases specialist. Good luck!

Clavulanate serves as the beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing the inactivation of Amoxicillin and other beta-lactam containing antibiotics by binding to the enzyme, produced by the bacteria, than makes all of this possible.

It is important to be guided in antibiotic selection by the results of culture and sensitivity reports.

Amp & gp B strep: If the strain of strep is sensitive to ampicillin, you should start feeling better in couple days, but it's extremely important to finish the entire prescription to prevent the development of resistant bacteria. If the infxn is getting worse, see doc again for re-evaluation.

Yes, safe to take: These two pills/capsules are certainly safe to take at the same time, however I would question the effectiveness of the probiotic if you take it at the same time. The idea of probiotics is to repopulate the GI tract after antibiotics. If you are taking them at the same time, the antibiotic will likely eliminate the probiotic as well. For best results space these out.

It appears that Augmentin is not working well which means your UTI is caused by a bacteria which is likely to be resistant to Augmentin.
You will need to go back to your doctor and ask for a change of antibiotic to a different drug. Urine culture before making this change will help to identify the causative bacteria and also reveal the antibiotics it is sens
