Skin Antibiotics: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) contains amoxicillin, a very close relative of penicillin, and gives coverage for the types of bacteria often in uncomplicated skin infections (cellulitis). Septra (or Bactrim) is a combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, and gives better coverage for MRSA for cellulitis thought to be caused by this bacteria.
