Clavulanate: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is he brand name for amoxicillin-clavulanate. Clavulanate serves as the beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing the inactivation of Amoxicillin and other beta-lactam containing antibiotics by binding to the enzyme, produced by the bacteria, than makes all of this possible.
