: I answered your question previously. Desipramine can be tried with starting dose 25 mg and max dose 100 mg.

: I assume you have already been evaluated by your Dr for these symptoms (since you have Rx ) &amp; that other causes have been ruled out?   Are you taking the amitryptiline an hour or so before bedtime &amp; it is still too sedating?  If so yes you can ask Dr about the other meds, which may be less sedating .  Stress management/Counselling can help some ,as well as food diary &amp; eliminating certain foods

ANSWER: One of the tetracyclic compounds, frequency of side effects is more than ssri's & snris. Important: first does it work for you?
If not, a different one 
probably will. If so, are side effects small and not a big problem:
then stick with it. If side effects are tough try another one. Tci's still work. The statistics apply to huge groups - not one person - you.

Not necessarily: Withdrawal varies among individuals and may produce nausea, headache, and malaise. Discuss with prescriber first then reduce dose in half for a week, then by another half for a week and so on until gone. Slow the withdrawal if withdrawal effects occur. Advise your prescriber if initial symptoms occur which required desipramine. Best regards.

No: Klonopin is a benzodiazepine used for anxiety restless leg syndrome seizures sedation etc.  Norpramin (desipramine) is a second generation antidepressant.
