Nope: Vit e is better if taken from natural foods . Vit d if less than. 20 , you need to take with food. U live in canada so ur vit d can go low but, remember u can have overdose from vit E. Go online and check for vit e rich foods

It's very common : Low vit d is not life threatening or even a short term issue. The concern is long term - it can lead to worsening bone density (osteoporosis). More research has led to links with fatigue, muscle weakness, heart issues, etc. We aim for a blood level greater than 30 ng/ml. I often prescribe a high dose vitamin d protocol "boosting" for 2-3 months, then an otc vit d supplement of 2000 units daily.

Any w/enough Folate (folic acid): The main thing that distinguishes prenatal vitamins from regular multivitamins is the presence of additional Folate (folic acid) or Folic Acid, consumption of which has been shown to decrease risk of neural tube defects. But because this part of the body develops even before missing one's period, it's imperative to start taking prenatal vitamins as soon as one stops using contraception.

A, D, E, B6: One can consume too much of the fat-soluble vitamins, which are a, d & e, but one generally has to take massive amounts to get into trouble. Taking 25, 000 units of a for many months can be toxic (but if pregnant much lower levels are toxic) . Vit d toxicity has not been reported with doses under 40, 000 iu/day. Doses of e over 1500 iu/day may cause bleeding. B6 over 250 mg/day can cause neuropathy.

When you're old!: There are 2 reasons to take vitamins:
to treat symptoms of deficiency or prevent disease. If to treat symptoms you'll know if you feel better over time (many take several weeks), If for prevention when you reach 90 you will know. You can get a blood test to measure D levels- normal is at least 30, optimal 50-80; and take more D if needed.

Vitamin D3: Usual dose is not more than 5000 units daily. I take that and my level is right in the middle of the normal range (50) Bear in mind that persons who have had gastric bypass surgery will absorb Vitamin D more readily and can become intoxicated with even 5000 units daily.
