Yes: A sebaceous cyst can occur in hair bearing skin or in the scalp. It is a epidermal inclusion cyst and can represent a cyst from hair follicles sweat ducts or similar structures in the dermis of skin it is benign.

Best option by remov: If it is ovarian dermoid cyst best option is by removal as it my twist , or if bursts will give severe chemical peritonitis , or even may undergo malignant transformation  . See your Gyn surgeon .

Get it checked: If it is a sebaceous cyst or a lipoma, if you want it gone, then you have to have it removed surgically.  Depending on where it is and how big it is, often it can just be done in the doctor's office.  You need to have it checked by a doc to know for sure that it is benign (not cancer) and to tell you what you need to do to get rid of it.

i was told a cyst on my left kidney grew 11mm over the last 5yrs. should this need to be removed, is that painful? can it cause stones?

Investigate: Usually if it is a "simple cyst" (i.e. With no signs of cancer), and does not hurt or cause bleeding or uti, a cyst does not need to be removed and can be watched with serial imaging over time.

if you had a bone cyst near a growth plate, would you notice if it grew into and damages the growth plate? (ie would you have any symptoms?)

Probably not : If it affected the growth plate the redultant deformity would occur so slowly that you may not notice-I would highly recommend that you follow up with your orthopedist with exam and x-rays as frequently as he recommends.
