have dry patch at left corner of mouth. not just cracked corner, more like rash. doesnt itch. i drink plenty of water and try to get needed vitamins. ?

Possible impetigo: if the patch is like a red rash and a little bit painful, it might be a staph/strep infection...often called impetigo. You could try otc antibiotic ointment (I prefer bacitracin) but if it doesnt respond, see your PCP...or consider a consult with HealhTAP with telemedicine level contact.

Could be: Sometimes it is a mild yeast infection and using a topical anti-fungal may help.

Fatty acids: May be fatty acids. Can test comprehensive fatty acid analysis to find out. Can be gla, ala, or fish oils. Black current seed oil can be tried.

No: It's a benign self limiting condition.  See your dentist.

No evidence: Fissured tongue typically doesn't require any medical treatment. There is no rct study to support the benefit of the zinc or  b complex for the fissured tongue treatment. Hence,  you may not be able to tell if the symptomatic treatments are actually working.

i have all symptoms for geographc tongue, it gets worse when i have vitamin b12 injections. \ have a rash on both wrists all the time too?

No connection: Geographic tongue is a completely benign condition where small finger like projections on the tongue surface disappear in patches.  Some think its related to a b complex deficiency.  Are you deficient?  If not, and you don't think the shots are helpful, then stop.  I usually just reassure the patient that ths is harmless, but if there is pain sometimes a steroid cream helps.  Rash not related.

41yo non-smoking female.saw ent, have very mild leukoplakia on side of tongue,dr not concerned and have f/u in 6 mos.looking at ways to get rid of it;ive never smoked,rarely drink.will vitamin e,beta carotine help get rid of it?do mild cases go away?

: Have a diet rich in fruit and vegetables. Vitamin A and beta-carotene supplements by mouth and Isotretinoin supplements, which are more effective than beta -carotene. Always have area checked every 6 months, but Leukoplakia often returns from many of the treatments .Your lifestyle did not cause this, it can occur on its own.

You probably: need a prescription medicine and sunscreen for lips. the topicals you are putting on can actually attract sun and make condition worse. Oral vitamin E will help more. see dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment options

i'm getting vitamin b12 injections.i've had 5.i per week.. now 3 monthly.doctor said i can try sublingual b12 under tongue.can i still get injections?

Please do what your: doc says.  If you use sublingual B 12 I don't see any necessity for shots for the average person.  If you swallow B 12 you will still need shots because oral B 12 is not nearly as well metabolized as sublingual.  Peace and good health.
