If : If you are only a few days post op, then some swelling is to be expected. As your body heals, it is crucial that you eat a nutritious diet, or your wound healing can be delayed. It is prudent for you to call your doctor to advise that you are experiencing a lot of swelling and to get advise about your diet.
Ambulating and drinking a lot of water can help. You need to report this swelling to you doctor to ensure this is not an infection.

ASk Surgeon.: You will likely be able to tell just by looking at your torso what areas were treated. Swelling/bruising/ tenderness will likely be present. Of course, your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource for accurate information.

The : The use of compression bandages or garments is to control bleeding, in the event it should occur, prevent fluid accumulation between the skin and underlying muscle, and to redrape the skin in a desirable fashion to improve the result.  This is especially important in areas affected by gravity like under the lower jaw.

I : I perform traditional tumescent liposuction and I do have my patients wear a compression garment for 6 weeks after surgery. I think this does decrease post-op swelling. As was previously said, it is a personal preference between plastic surgeons.

My : My opinion - compression garments should be worn after any type of liposuction, to contour the areas and to shrink the loose skin evenly.

Compression garments: Compression is a very important part of your tummy tuck/ lipo recovery. I advise my patients to wear the compression garments around the clock for the first two weeks.  After that, i recommend wearing the garment 12 hours a day for another two weeks.  After you have put so much time and money into the actual procedure, this is the finishing touch for great results!

Accepted Answer

Just one of many...: Means used to "break up" fat before suctioning it out. Another method that has the same function is ultrasonic energy. All of these use some form of energy to break up the fat to be removed before the actual suctioning is done. I am not aware that any specific method is superior to any other.

Bariatric surgery: You want to be sure that you have obtained maximal weight loss prior to having excess skin/fat removed.  Generally we advise at least 18 months following the weight loss procedure.
