Many alternatives av: Your gastroenterologist has many alternatives to chose from. So you should tell him/her that you wish to avoid using propofol. Midazolam is one tranquilizer often used.

Several options: Most patients receive a little fentanyl and midazolam for intravenous sedation. Propofol is usually reserved for people who are anxious or did not do well with the usual sedation.Propofol for colonoscopy would usually be administered by anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist. I would suggest going with what your providers are comfortable with and letting them give the dose that's right for you.

A better question is: Have you been diagnosed by cardiology with Brugada syndrome and do you have an implanted cardioverter/defibrillator? If you don't have an ICD, why not? What is the approach to management? These are questions for your cardiologist. The guidelines for treatment are straightforward and specific to the case. So you need to find out what is appropriate in yours. Give your cardiologist a call to clarify

Informed consent: Nothing should be done before explaining pros and cons and obtaining your permission. Propofol is not the only choice, although it is probably best drug for it today. One can undergo colonoscopy without any anesthesia, the experience is likely to be quite  unpleasant and stressful and conditions for the doctor performing it suboptimal, so i would invite you to address all your concerns beforehand.
