Maybe look elsewhere: Your doctor should maintain levels of professionalism at all times, even in a situation where you as the patient are sedated.  I would be concerned given his response and demeanor during your procedure and would maybe consider a different physician based on your level of comfort.

One size: Does not fit all, although we all have some degree of anxiety with loss of control.  If your doc is ok with twilight it sounds like a good choice.  Try not to second guess your choice.  Peace and good health.

Colonoscopy: Why do you want to avoid sedation.  It makes the procedure much easier both for you and the doctor performing it.  The discomfort is highly variable from person to person, but if bipsies are necessary you really should be sedated.  Discuss with the doctor who will be doing this.  Some will refuse non-sedated patients.

have routine colonoscopy without sedation scheduled. i have to drive afterwards. can i still have a pain medication for procedure? what could it be?

Get a ride!: Bus, taxi, friend, family member, relative, subway, train, sure there has to be a way.  Generally not recommended to drive after intravenous opiates ("pain medication"), for your own safety as well as the safety of others. May need to wait around for a few hours before discharged but even that could be questionable.

i am having a colonoscopy without sedation tomorrow at 10am and was wondering if it was ok to drink alcohol the following night only 3-4 pints no more?

No: Alcohol is toxic to living tissues (we humans happen to be a complex glob of living tissues), so avoid "moderate drinking." Moderate drinking is too much alcohol. Three or four pints a night is heavy drinking, so nobody should be doing that unless he is weaning down from five pints a night. After coming off alcohol, it really is fine to drink just water, which contains neither calories nor toxins.

Sedation: In general, this procedure is performed with conscious (or moderate) sedation, which is usually a mixture of IV anti-anxiety + pain med.  This makes the procedure easier for you, as well as for the performing doc, because it relaxes the colon,  making passage of the scope easier.  The sedation in most cases is administerd by the performing doctor, and an anesthesiologist is not required.

Swelling: Sudden swelling of a limb can be a sign of infection or even a clot. Please get evaluated asap.

Anything possible: Some people react adversely or excessively to doses of sedatives that do not affect others. Have no idea what happened in the situation you describe. Ask the doctor.

Colonoscopy : The sedation u take for colonoscopy , make u feel nothing  . And it is better to take it , if u don't discuss it with u physician.
