i'm a 28 year old female that has had right sided pelvic pain for a few months. i have had two clear ultrasounds and a clear ct scan with contrast. can right sided pelvic pain be a symptom of colon cancer? or any idea on what may be causing the pain?

Right pelvic pain: Have  other GI signs ?, nausea /vomiting? diarrhea? blood in stool? Able to eat? May be GI - gallbladder,   diverticulum ( meckels- but that is  associated with bleeding) ,  CT would note appendicitis and  i assume  kidney stones were considered .  But   I have seen women w/pelvic pain w/vaginal culture  of  ureoplasma/ mycoplasma  and responded to docycycline / or azithromycin f/u /MD

a recent ct scan with contrast revealed two cysts on pancreas.  what does this mean? previous colon cancer and has esld.  also 6mm mass on liver.

Needs attention: Needs work up. Most of the pancreatic tumors are solid but cysadenoma , cystadeno carcinoma will present as cystic lesions need  biopsy of these  lesions to make sure they are not malignant also liver lesion. If pancreatic lesions are benign could be a candidate for liver transplantation  for end stage liver disease ( esld ).

have mild ab discomfort in urq/ulq, gerd, and health anxiety.  gastro doc ordered ab/pelvic ct scan with contrast. results normal.  had clear colonoscopy 5 years ago.  worried about colon cancer - could ct w/ contrast detect colon cancer at all?

Untrusting: I am sorry that you don't feel you can trust the gastroenterologist  who is evaluating you. Yes, a CT scan with contrast can be used to detect colon cancer. Why do you seek evaluation by a specialist if you don't trust him/her to have adequate knowledge about appropriate testing/ evaluation?

Contrast CT for dx: CT with intravenous and oral contrast administration alone is reported to be 93% sensitive and 100% specificin dx  of acute diverticulitis
CT with colonic contrast introduced retrograde without oral or intravenous contrast has produced sensitivities between 93% and 97% with 100% specificity.Complications are present in up to 30% of cases of diverticulitis and usually necessitate rad. or surg.proc.

Diverticulitis: Is well demonstrated on ct though the actual hole, or perforation, is uncommonly seen. If contrast leaks out of the colon into a abscess the perforation itself may be sometimes be identified.

No: Unfortunately endometriosis cannot be detected with an MRI or ct scan. If your symptoms are suspicious for endometriosis, you should discuss a laparoscopy with your doctor.

: No, this common CT technique which is usually done in acute abdominal conditions without time for preparation does not detect colon lesion. However, a different technique called CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy) can be used as a screening tool for colon cancer but you need bowel cleaning + drinking oral contrast for preparation + air insufflation per rectum just before the CT done.

Mass in the colon : The answer is yes a CT is great for seeing abdominal masses.. Can you see you miss a small mass in the colon that can be seen with a colonoscopy yes?

See below: If the colonoscopy was done properly, you are very unlikely to have colon cancer 20 months after the procedure.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

CT Scan Findings: Ct scan is not the best study to detect colon cancer or ulcers. Although a ct scan may show a large sized colon cancer, the sensitivity of this is greatly reduced without the administration of oral contrast. Ulcers are typically not seen on ct scan. The best diagnostic study for both of these would be an endoscopy and colonoscopy.
