Suggestions 4 ulcer: Once you've ruled out &amp;/or treated H.pylori and avoided nsaid's, combine acid suppression medication with the following: minimize meal size as well as intake of alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, fatty/fried foods, fizzy drinks. Advice changes, of course, if ulcers are due to crohn's, cancer, "stress-related" (systemic disease), caustic ingestion, etc. Check with diagnosing doctor who knows you best.

i have chronic gastritis. my dr gave me protonix 40mg twice a day and 40 mg famotine at bedtime. doing lot better .but on this now for 3 months. watching my diet. what your thoughts?

: It sounds like you have pretty bad gastritis! That is a high dose of two drugs that both decrease acid production, and while can be used together it is not that common, especially for a long period of time. Some follow-up after three months to decide if both drugs are still needed is advisable. I would think someone has looked at your stomach (called an EGD). These meds have side effects over time

had endoscopy and biopsys were benign.. chronic gastritis. taken protonix twice a day and bentley for stomach pain as needed and watch my diet. going on for 2 months. have woke up a couple of times with stomach pain and upset. stomach pain goes away?

: Would expect that the gastritis would start to remit by this point, but as we get older, it takes longer to fully heal, and if you have a co-morbidity such as diabetes, the process would be even more prolonged.  It is possible that your medications may need adjustment or revision.  Talk to your gastroenterologist and make a joint decision.

after endoscopy have mild chronic gastritis. taking meds and changed diet. much better. of course cheap on diet sometimes. couple of nights woke up with stomach pain and upset. is this gastritis also? after upset pain goes away shortly and back to sl?

: You don't mention how long you've been on dietary measur &amp; medications for the chronic gastritis or whether h pylori was present. I think you should notify your gastroenterologist, who knows your endoscopic findings,  of these nocturnal bouts of pain to determine whether they are part of the natural history of your mild chronic gastritis or whether another gasroscopy or other testing are advisable

i was diagnosed with chronic duodenitus and chronic gastritis. i am waiting my for my biopsies results. my stomach and chest aches all the time. any advice to help me with the constant discomfort? such as pain relief, diet or supplements?

Gastritis : Avoid triggers such as alcohol anti inflammatory meds.  Manage weight.  May need to see doctor re meds.  Baking soda may help.  I work in a conventional medical framework so unable to advise re effectiveness safety or otherwise of supplements

i have really bad burns in my esophagus since a few days ago. antiacids dont help and i just started today taking ppis. i watch my diet closely because i was diagnosed with chronic gastritis and gerd. can you please recommand me anything? it hurts.?

: Avoid caffeine or nicotine in any form. Avoid dark chocolate and acidic foods. Don't lay down for at least an hour after consuming a meal or drinking any mid to large quantity of fluids. It will take about 2 weeks for this all to settle things down.

You sure no Hp?: on biopsy or serologies?  nodular gastritis, especially in young women, is most commonly associated with h pylori.  are your symptoms any better on the PPI?  the chronic gastritis may never fully regress but need to deal with your symptoms.  some GIs would also advocate for repeat endoscopy down the line for screening purposes (data not convincing for it, but reasonable to do)

diagnosed with chronic gastritis by egd/colonoscopy. no h pylori. have changed diet, no nsaids and no alcohol. am getting dull pains below left rib cage and in left flank. is this normal during the healing process or should i ask for more testing?

: If the symptom characteristics are the same but less intensity, you are probably okay. However, your pain location is not typical for gastritis. You did not mention if you are taking any medication for gastritis after the diagnosis.

i have gerd biopsy results mild chronic gastritis, no other findings. on dexilant 60 and pepcid 40. bad upper abdominal pain that radiates to back. careful with diet avoiding gerd triggers. empty stomach, fruits most proteins and oily foods trigger?

: If problem at night try putting feet of head of bed on4 or 8 inch blocks. Gravity never sleeps. It may help in one to two nights.

Gastritis: It's best to avoid spicey and acidic foods. Avoiding alcohol, caffeine and nicotine is also helpful. Your physician or gastroenterologist may prescribe medications like prilosec or zantac as well.
