Emotions: Pupil dilation can be caused by an emotional state or arousal.   There are also many drugs that can result in changes in pupils and then the same drugs are the cause of the behavior change.   Consider a urine test to look for drug behavior changes.

Accepted Answer

Yes: If a child had a skull fracture, they may have had an internal bleed as well or a shearing injury or other brain injury.  Behavioral problems can occur after any serious head injury.  Seek help from a neurologist.

i had my eyes dilated 3 days ago.  vision returned to normal after 24 hrs but my pupils are still dilated and sensitive to light.  is there a problem?

Not likely!: Depending on the dilating agent used, it can last from 4 hours to over a week!  the pupil dilation is one part and the inability to focus a separate part.  People with light colored eyes can have the pupil dilation last for much longer period of time.  Next time you see the eye doctor ask then to only use tropicamide once (no need for a second drop or a second application).

See an eye doctor: New or worse floaters require an urgent dilated retinal exam to rule out serious conditions like retinal detachment. One's thirties in not necessarily too young.

I will answer: With a question: did you see an ophthalmologist ( and md) or an optometrist ( who usually checks vision and are not doctors.)?  If it was an md i would sleep well. If not, go see one. Occasionally floaters are migraine equivalents too but eye pathology has to be excluded first.

my right eye got uveitis about a month ago. got cortisone eye drops from the specialist and most of the symptoms are gone. the only problem i still have is that the pupil stays dilated. will this resolve itself or should i go back to the optometrist?

Check with eye docto: When treating uveitis ophthalmologists generally prescribe cortisone eye drops to treat the inflammation and a cucloplegic eye drop to keep the pupil dilated to help relieve pain and to prevent the Iris (colored part of the eye) from sticking to the lens Of the eye which can produce problems later. Check with your doctor to see if that is the case.  If not, it should be checked.

i have a permenetly dilated eye (5mm), 6 weeks after retinal detachment surgery taht included a scleral buckle and an oil filled vitretcomy.  do buckles cause this problem ?

Nerve injury : The permanently dilated pupil could be from injury to the postganglionic parasympathetic fibers in the short ciliary nerves. If endolaser treatment was used along with the scleral buckle, it could cause such an injury.

Too early: Two years of age is too early to diagnose a child with ADHD.  Also drugging a child to sleep is not wise.  Try other alternatives such a Triple P positive parenting program.
