Not usually....: A heart attack occurs when there is a decrease in the blood flow to the heart itself. Symptoms of a heart attack include chest pain or pressure that can radiate to the jaw, shortness of breath, sweating, etc. Spasms of the chest wall muscles can happen for many reasons, including after a lot of coughing, and is not usually a sign of a heart attack. If you have chest pain, see your doctor or er!

Cp: You are already under care of a doctor, and if he has said that if it is muscle tension, you probably need not be terrified. However, keep in touch with your doctor if it continues.

No: A pulled muscle or perhaps costochondritis can not cause you to have a heart attack. But if you have underlying heart disease, i suggest you have an evaluation from a cardiologist and perhaps have a stress test.

is chest pain from anemia , peptic ulcer, pulled muscle, impending heart attack, gerd, or angina ? 17 of sept, i was out , " de-rusting " a bike, & getting any rust of the chain. also, i did lift the bike ; a rockhopper. btw,  i am female, 5'3" , 110 lbs

You : You can refuse the treatment that the er doctor recommended to you and make an appointment with your primary care physician. When a patient presents to the er, the er doctor can only stabilize and treat the 'clinical picture' that was observed during the visit. It sounds like the er doctor took a look at your heart (ekg), your lungs (chest xray) and based on the fact that you tried Prilosec (able to consider ruling out indigestion) as a cause. Perhaps you exhibited some anxiety  (for example: high blood pressure) during your er visit. Also, depending on your medication, the medications prescribed by the er physician may also help to relax smooth muscles and can provide some temporary pain relief.
It is prudent to make an appointment with your primary care physician for a treatment regimen (such as managing high blood pressure) and investigating this pain. 
As for your visit in the ed, you were assessed accordingly to see if anything was going on with your heart and lungs. It was a very idea for you to go to er to make sure a serious event wasn't occurring. For all intents and purposes of an er visit, your needs were met. The next step is to follow up with your doctor for further assessment and ensure quality care and follow up.

my husband have ptsd bec. of a previous situation which he thought a muscle pain was a heart attack. doctor said all findings were clear. they said he had a mental disturbance when it happened. now, he feels dizzy and weak, what is the cause?

: The symptoms mentioned are common to several different illnesses/conditions. No reliable diagnosis can be made without a full review of history/exam and tests. Go to the doc who knows him and stay involved until it is sorted out.

Probably not: You may have simply slept on your arm wrong or hit it sometime throughout the night or earlier. I would recommend seeing a doctor if you truly feel like this is at all a possible sign of a heart attack.

how can i tell the difference between chest muscle pain or heart pain? they are so close together i am having a hard time distinguishing them apart.

Distinguishing Pain: Muscle related chest pain is  sharp reproducible either by pressure or by arm movements or applying load to concerned muscle ( tightening or contracting muscle. Heart related pain . Is usually vague achiness and usually worsens with exertional activity. There is usually feeling of breathlessness with exertion.  Hope that helps. In most chest pain cases it is best to see a physician  right away.

can sleep problems cause chronic chest muscle pain?i snore very badly. i am waiting on results from sleep study. all heart tests are normal. thanks.

I expect so: I'm glad your heart work-up was normal and that you'll be treated for whatever the sleep study finds. It's a prime suspect for the soreness and you'll discover that soon if it is guilty. Consider a carefully planned exercise program to develop your chest muscles with the guidance of the sleep team. I believe they'll know of a good one. Best!

Chest pain: indicates a need for you to see your doc to rule out medical conditions.  Yes, anxiety can cause such symptoms but first see doc then see a mental health professional to learn to manage stress.  Peace and good health.
