No: Chalazions of the eye have to resolve on their own or be surgically drained and removed by an opthalmologist. It takes many days of warm compresses before you see any improvement. If a week has gone by with absolutely no improvement, see an opthalmologist.  Believe it or not, they usually do go away on their own, but it takes patience!

None: There are no over the counter drops that will treat chalazion. Some will resolve with warm compresses and lid massage, but a combination steroid/antibiotic eyedrop can help in persistent cases. Your eye doctor will need to prescribe this. If that is not successful, the chalazion may need to be incised and drained.

Warm compresses: First step is to apply heat to your eyelid to melt the blockage causing the chalazion. The best way is to boil an egg, wrap it in cloth and put it over the eye, 10 min on, 10 min off. You can also microwave a sock with rice in it and use it. Just make sure whatever you use stays hot for 10 minutes. If that doesn't work, have your eye doc drain it.

May fade with time: A chalazion is basically a 'blocked up' oil gland on the eyelid that results in inflammation and swelling. They are almost never infected. They usually resolve with frequent warm compresses but sometimes the residual material remains as a small bump. I have not come across eyelid darkening after resolution of a chalazion, but i imagine it is possible. It will likely fade with time.

Patients : Patients often get put on antibiotics for a chalazion and this is rarely needed because this is not an infection.  It is an inflammation and topical anti-inflammatories are helpful.  I often use ophthlmic steroids for this condition.  Unfortunately, these sometimes progress to the point that they need to be surgically drained in the office.
