Help is possible: This sounds like the "wet" form of macular degeneration in which the blood vessels near the central vision focal point of the retina leak and bleed.  This calls for a visit to, or a referral to a retinal specialist as there is a relatively new medication which can help tremendously with this occurrence.  She needs to see an M.D. Doctor and not an optometrist.

: Both are acceptable and heal in the same with no more or less loss of blood. So its a personal preference and comfort

Not normal.: If this does not resolve in a day or two, please see your dentist, a periodontist, or an oral surgeon for evaluation. Your description suggests some trauma to the gums and it should disappear soon. Otherwise, it is a situation that needs professional investigation.

have macular pucker. close up vision test 20/20 but looking straight on at computer is blurry. my guess is central vision at computer is 20/40 but eye exam isn't picking it up. how can it be measured?

Optomalogist: Would check on standard over the counter reading glasses. If you vision is better, good. If not see your Optomalogist.

i had a sclera buckle,ppv for a detached retina no macular involvement. my dr cleared me for a refraction i still have a gas in my eye. will this affect the accuracy of the refraction even though the gas is above my central vision?

: it could, I would wait until the bubble is gone.  Also, you are sure to develop a cataract in that eye in the near future.

i think i was bitten by a spider on my left breast. the centre of the approx. 3cm diameter area is dark and bleeding. the skin around it is flakey and sore to the touch (like a burn).
the onset was more gradual (days instead of hours). what do i do?

Spider bite: Go to uptodate.com and read more.  I do not know which kind live in your part of the Cape. Google Spider bites in Western Cape and view images. Show to your Dr or other local expert. Warm compresses might help heal.

i had an episode of bleeding vaginally after bowel motion, my period isnt due for 2 weeks and ive never had this before. i also get a pain central upper abdomen when i press below my belly button? iud in situ also. what might this be?

: Observe closely to make sure the blood coming out from the vagina or from the rectum so you can tell your doctor if bleeding recurs because the work up will be different. If you have structural lesion in the uterus or from the rectum, bleeding will recur. The pain you feel when pushing down at the navel area does not come from the uterus which is located much lower.

You : You need to see your doctor to find out the source of the bleeding. It could be an internal or external hemmhroid or it could be a more significant cause.  If it is bright red blood it is likely from the lower gastrointestinal tract. If you have black, tarry, malodorous stools that could be coming from higher up.
