Contact allergy: If your eyeballs are not involved, your problem may be from a contact allergy to something you have used on your face especially eye makeups. Touching the lids before the nail polish has totally dried up  or using a rubber applicator when you are allergic to latex may be potential allergens as well. If you have a condition known as rosacea, this may involve the lids.  See Dermatologist.

Allergy of eyelids?: Check to see if your eye makeup is fresh..Especially the mascara and eyeliner..One can get reaction on the eyelid from allergies, old eye makeup, etc.'
you can try warm compresses, or baby shampoo scrubs on a cotton tip applicator with one drop of baby shampoo and 2 drops of water...Are you on any new medications ?

Eyelid edema: Following intense emotional situations with crying, runny nose, and lots of wiping eyelids and nose secretions, the eyelids often swell, eyes look red, and the ocular surface may be slightly irritated. Mucous is generated by the eye in response to the irritation. Sometimes contamination can be introduced into the eye with all the wiping. Not usually an infection results, but if worse, see eye doc.
