Maybe: This product is from a family of antihistamines. Each individual may have an unusual or "idiosyncratic" response to such meds that differ from most people. If the symptoms arise in a timeframe paired with taking this med &amp; nothing else explains it, it would be reasonable to conclude that it caused them.

i have pretty bad vertigo. drs have not been able to find the cause and physical therapies have not helped. the only thing that helps is meclizine and ive had to take it daily for years now. is there long term effects to this medication daily?

: Not many people are taking meclizine on a daily basis for years so I do not think we have reliable data for addressing your concern. At the same time, there are studies which showed meclizine has minimal beneficial effects in alleviating vertigo in the long run. Personally, I do think daily exercise to retrain your vestibular system does have a role to overcome vertigo in the long run. Good luck.

i have bad dizziness and nausea. should i take meclizine without going to the doctor? a family member had meclizine prescribed to them for vertigo. wasnt sure if i took it if it would hurt or cause effects in case i dont have vertigo. thanks?

: It's prudent to be examined to determine type &amp; cause of your dizziness. Meclizine is commonly prescribed to treat vertigo caused by inner ear disorders but not lightheadedness or faint like symptoms.  Until speaking with or being seen &amp; advised by a physician, avoid sudden movements of your head and body.

took 2 meclizine (antivert) pills today for dizziness. it caused severe anxiety. can i take an ativan (lorazepam) to help me relax or will it interact?

Caution: Meclizine is an older antihistamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) so typically causes drowsiness, not anxiety, but every patient is different.  Long-acting benzos like Ativan are also used to help control dizziness, so the two drugs will work well together to suppress vertigo, but will also double the sedation.  Taking one Ativan pill now should be ok, but better to start with just one pill of each initially.

hello i took one meclizine and two acetaminophen 500mg....i feel asleep. although i know that my meclizine cause drowsiness, it never had knocked me out like that. so i'm asking was this site to the tylenol as well?

Meclizine: should only be used under physician guidance under the most extremes of conditions. Do not drive after taking a dose of meclizine.

a month ago, i slept wrong and my snapped, instant vertigo. i havent moved my head to the left or up/down since. im afraid to, cervical vertigo is awful. meclizine is making my pulse go up to 100 for no reason. i take toprol 50mg daily.any advice?

AAOS Neck Stretching: .I would suggest you go online to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) website and download the PDF for neck stretching exercises, and GENTLY start some home physical therapy. By the way, using ice on your neck—rather than heat—is better for pain relief. Start slowly and gradually increase the amount of stretch. Best to you, and stay safe!

can meclizine hcl (dramamine nausea) cause upset stomach?

: Both meclizine and dramamine are antihistamine drugs but they are not the same. Both can be used for nausea and vomiting, i.e. to treat motion sickness but nausea and vomiting are also listed as their side effects. I do not know what you mean by upset stomach but stomach pain is not a common side effect of both drugs.
