Slight possibility: The characteristic of a cancerous lymph node is initially one associated with a pre existing malignancy that has is or is undergoing treatment.  If no known lesion and a node appears  along major venous sites in areas  such as groin.axilla and increases in number remaining firm on  palpation or gets larger one can expect lymphoma.  Bx needed to confirm.  Behind ear is not typical site .for cancer.

It may be,,,,: A cancerous lymph node may be moveable.  It's just that its consistency(hard, painless, irregular) is different from a non-cancerous lymph node(soft, sensitive, smooth).

It varies: Most cancerous lymph nodes are painless. But if they are growing faster, pain may appear at some stage; there is no bearing on the size of the lymph node.

What it contains: Lymph nodes drain a region of a body of its toxins, pathogens, & dead cells through the lymphatic system.  This parallels the venous system.  Once the lymphatic fluid from distant cells reaches a node, white blood cells either kill or process the contents.  Cancerous nodes simply collected cancerous cells that drained from its territory.  The cells then were able to multiply in that node as well.

Lymphoma: The node can be of any size.  If you find a suspicious or new node, see your primary doctor immediately.

Won't touch it: Only powerful remedies (surgery, radiation, chemotherapy) touch cancer. In fact, even a benign enlarged lymph node from a nearby infammatory process won't get smaller if heated / massaged unless it would have done the same by itself.

Cancer tends to grow: It would be very unlikely for a cancer not to grow and spread over a period of 3 years.
If it was cancerous, the tumor/Nodes will increase in size in 3, 6 to 9 months. Biopsy is indicated if it has grown in size, otherwise it can be left alone.

could i have waldenstrm macroglobulinaemia without having a cancerous lymph node? i have a pair of nodes which haven't changed in 2 years. i also experience light heads when i raise my head too fast?

: No. If the lymph nodes have not grown in two years, you do not have lymphoma or Waldenstrom. You can watch and wait. You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. do you need to have a cancerous lymph node to make all of your other lymph nodes become risen to a pea size? i have 2 pea sized occipital nodes with are immovable and they have not changed in 6 months. i can also feel feel nodes all over my body too?

: This sounds entirely normal. Everybody has this if they keep searching hard enough. But see a doctor if you remain concerned.
