It varies: Most cancerous lymph nodes are painless. But if they are growing faster, pain may appear at some stage; there is no bearing on the size of the lymph node.

Large lymph node: Pain is not related to the size (measurement) of the lymph node. However, large lymph nodes can impinge adjacent nerves which can cause pain.
