Sleeping pills: Unisom should not be taking more than recommended as it may cause CNS depression, which may impair physical and mental activities.  Not to exceed 2 weeks of use.  I would not recommend taking 2 tablets.  Follow sleep hygiene protocols and avoid caffeine and nicotine.  Please make an appointment for consult to provide more information. Follow directions.: You can take one Unisom SleepGels, SleepTabs or PM Pain. You can take two Unisom QuickMeltsTM or 30 ml of Unisom Liquid.  Don't over-sedate yourself.

Why do it?: The dose of unisom is 1 pill 30 minutes before bed.  Why do you want to double it?  You'd be more likely to have dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, etc (all side effects of the medication) if taking more than the usual dose.  If this over-the-counter med is not helping you, you need to have your sleep issue evaluated.  Best wishes.

Yes: Alcohol is usually metabolized at the rate of one drink per hour.  By midnight you should be fine.  However, treating insomnia with sleeping pills should not replace a workup to identify the cause of your insomnia.

Generally yes: The better question is why?  Unisom contains mainly a sedating antihistamine in otc doses.  This medication while it makes you sleepy with one, can often make people groggy or excessively tired with more than one.  Melatonin may be helpful to add but not if experiencing tolerance to unisom.

Sleep aids: Unisom is an anti-histamine and Natural Calm has magnesium.  It is doubtful that taking the 2 together will give you a problem.  It just isn't the best choice.  One can be "over-medicated" whether with prescription medications or over-the-counter medications, natural or otherwise. But why do you need them?  First cut back or stop caffeine.  Try and exercise.  Have a glass of warm milk.

YES: YES...although Unisom is a relatively "safe" anti-histamine you need to see your Medical Professional for some information re "sleep hygiene" and perhaps a SHORT term "real" sleeping aid!

i accidentally took two pills of unisom pm pain. am i going to be okay? the dosage was for one pill and i read it wrong. now my body feels weird and weak.

Can call the doctor: Usually a person who, on just one occasion, takes twice the dose for an over-the-counter medication will be fine as the medicine wears off. The acetaminophen portion is 325mg per pill, so 2 pills is no problem. The diphenhydramine portion is 50mg per pill, so twice that would be VERY sedating. That's why a person should talk with his or her primary care doctor to see if a doctor's exam is needed.
