Highly unlikely: This scenario is highly unlikely especially in a young man. You should have a physical exam to be sure you are healthy and then you have to realize that this is a psychological issue. Talking to therapist is a good idea and you should be able to figure out why you have these fears. Psychotherapy should be helpful in making  them go away.

This may be a sign: of Sleep apnea. Please ask your PCP about a sleep study.  It will check you for apneas  or periods of cessation of breaths.

Not long: depends on what you mean by not working. If you stop breathing altogether you won't be alive for more than few minutes but patients with significant lung disease can survive for years.

Complete!: If one stops brething they die.
If lungs are severely compromised by infection-pneumonia, collapse, cancer, trauma  etc one will die unless treated promptly and effectively.
Lungs are critical!.

Bronchiectasis: I wish there was an easy way to fix this but scarred bronchial tubes can't be mended. In rare cases surgery can be indicated if the affected area is localized only. Prevention depends on the underlying cause but if it was caused by a one time event like an infection it won't progress.  Best wishes

Yes, Yes: Smoking at that rate is clearly associated with multiple health issues, including lung damage, heart disease, etc. Quitting produces some health improvements literally within days, and risk for major medical problems begins to decline within months of stopping. Heart disease and lung disease risk approach average population risk within a few years of quitting.

Lung infection: If you have a viral infection other than influenza,  then hydration ; symptomatic support (analgesics) is the best we can do.  If you have laryngitis (inflammation of 'voice box") resting your voice is not unreasonable.  If you have high fevers, bloody/rusty sputum, are short of breath, ; especially if you are elderly, have diabetes, a history of lung/heart disease or are a smoker: call your doc!

if pt was on a vent 4 oxygen and the vent is on recall for stop giving pt oxygen whit out notice can it cuss damage to lungs if so what kind?

Unlikely an issue: Most ventilated patients are in units that maintain some extra monitoring which allows the staff to continuously monitor the blood oxygen, expired co2 and other features of a ventilator with equipment that is physically separate from that ventilator.( a separate monitor ) if the unit was not maintaining such redundancy, it might be an issue.

Not permanent: Congratulations on deciding to quit smoking/using e-cigarettes at your young age!  This is especially important since you have asthma. It is very unlikely that you have permanently damaged your lungs. While e-cigs can be addicting with their nicotine, since they are not burning they don't deliver toxins to your lungs.  Not sure why you are feeling terrible; see your doctor for evaluation.

Accepted Answer

No: Cough drops are for throat irritation that causes cough.  If you have a persistent chest cough, you need to see a doctor for a complete evaluation.
