No: The only way to get rid of a hiatal hernia is with surgery.  Losing weight may however help reduce or eliminate acid reflux, which often goes along with a hiatal hernia.

i believe that i have a hiatal hernia due to the symptoms i have, what can i do to get rid of it? also, can i do regular exercise i.e. gym work.

Need an exam: You cannot tell what you may have by symptoms alone, and a significant hiatal hernia would be unlikely at age 18. Need to see a doctor for an exam. May be acid reflux, gastritis, etc. Do not go by feelings or symptoms alone. Also see a doctor before a major change in an exersice program.

severe nausea last 3 days on and off. i have a hiatal hernia, esophagitis and ibs. i feel fine until i eat or drink something. its just constant nausea in my throat. i dont know how to get rid of it. would it be caused by any of those conditions?

: Nausea is rarely the lone symptoms of GERD and esophagitis. Nausea may be associated with IBS if you have severe constipation. If you are sexually active, pregnancy needs to be ruled out with a urine pregnancy test. Nausea could be the side effect of some common medications so I wonder if you are taking any new medication before that.

i have a hiatal hernia and esophagitis. my acid reflux always stays in my throat when i get a flare up. i take esomeprazole and antacids but i dont think the antacids are working anymore. how do i get rid of this feeling. makes me severely nauseous?

The hernia: is actually a defect through which a portion of your stomach protrudes through an opening in your diaphragm causing heartburn or gastric distress. I agree that weight loss is a smart idea to relieve symptoms and the use of acid inhibitors like Pepcid, (famotidine) Zegerid or Prilosec will help.

Sometimes: Increased hernias after rny because of protein malabsorption. Also after duodenal switch. But not typically with lap band or the gastric sleeve.

Not sure about ur Q: I am not clear on what u r asking.  Did have surgery? If so, some chest pain is expected in first few wks. There are other possibilities, however and u need to call ur surgeon.

Depends: On the size ; type of hiatal hernia. Most commonly medications are used to decrease acid in the stomach, avoid eating late at night or several hours before lsyonyg down. Sometimes surgical repair is indicated for some types of hiatal hernia. Newer non-invasive procedures are being developed.

Several: Reduce reflux: elevate head of bed.
Small meals and not late into evening before sleep.
No smoking
control weight
then antacids, blockers etc.

Depends: There is no magic bullet, but the use of an implanted prosthetic to reinforce the area can help make it less likely that the hernia will recur. Other factors that contribute to hernia formation is chronic coughing in patients with COPD or who smoke, and being overweight. If those factors are present, then your pcp can help you remedy those.
