Not sure about ur Q: I am not clear on what u r asking. Did have surgery? If so, some chest pain is expected in first few wks. There are other possibilities, however and u need to call ur surgeon.

Hiatal hernia: Hiatal hernia can be quite painful and you must see your doctor about this. Hiatal hernia should not cause chest pain and you must also bring this to your doctor. Don't wait too long to see your doctor. If he/she cannot fit you in soon please go to the Emergency Department.

It can: Large hiatal hernias, known as paraesophageal hernias, can cause chest pain, and the feeling there is a balloon inside that needs to burst. They can also cause difficulty eating, weight loss, and anemia, and sometimes heartburn and vomiting. Small hiatal hernias do not cause pain. An upper GI contrast study can tell the difference. Hope this helps!
