Depends: There is no magic bullet, but the use of an implanted prosthetic to reinforce the area can help make it less likely that the hernia will recur. Other factors that contribute to hernia formation is chronic coughing in patients with COPD or who smoke, and being overweight. If those factors are present, then your pcp can help you remedy those.
