Yes: The low residue diet is utilized while you recover from an acute diverticulitis infection. Rice of almond milk is low residue. Once recovered, one wants to consume a high fiber, high liquid diet.

: Yes.  But you need to follow a diabetic diet.  I recommend the DASH diet.  Use the app Cronometer and track what you eat. It will help guide you to diabetes goal.

I'd stop worrying: I'm familiar with these concerns and I think they're silly. Arsenic is all over the environment. Rice grows in flooded fields and this may be why it takes up more arsenic. The claims that arsenic in rice may be causing 4 extra deaths out of 100,000 people are based on dubious linear-risk claims ("I have a 1% chance of drowning in an inch of water"). Boil your rice and enjoy it.

Moderation: You can lose weight eating candy, and gain weight eating vegetables. They key is to choose good, nutrient-rich foods (and brown rice is better in this regard than white rice), eat a good variety, and eat less overall calories.

i  found out that there are high levels of arsenic in brown rice. i eat brown rice on its own and in cakes, cereal and pasta every day! should i stop?

No need to stop: entirely. According to the FDA report it is recommended to eat a varied diet of grains (not just brown rice everyday).  Obviously if you believe the risks outweigh the benefits of eating rice you can stop altogether without any ill effects to your health or diet.

Hello. : Hello.  One of the problems with not eating is that your metabolic rate will drop. Your body will go into a protective starvation mode. It will use less calories to get more done. Thus, your appetite will drop off because you don't need as many calories to get the job done. It becomes a vicious cycle. At this point, you likely have a low metabolic rate. Strongly recommend that even if you aren't hungry that you force yourself to eat. You might consider eating 6 small meals per day. You will need to this for a while (ensuring that your calories are increased) before your metabolic rate picks back up. You will need to eat to live rather than eating because of hunger. Take care.
