No: The only real risk, and its rare, is something called a bezoar (indigestible material) which can cause an obstruction in the digestive tract.  However, the risk is very rare, and your appendix is not generally at risk.  If you imagine the number of people, especially kids,  who swallow gum all around the world every day, the risk of choking on a piece of gum is much higher than anything else.

what could be causing my appendix scar to hurt? it's been ten years since the surgery. i'm not doing any excessive exercise. i have suspected endo.

Scar Pain: Surgical scars themselves can be sources of pain - either by being too close to superficial nerves, or acting as "interference fields" (disturbing chemical messengers).  This type of pain usually responds quite well to injection treatments with either procaine and/or dextrose15%.  I have also used other mixtures, such as vitamin B12 with success.

i am a month after laproscopic appendix surgery and i still have excessive winds that only go away in the baby yoga position. when i press my abdomen in the lower right, i still feel pain in my lower abdomen, is that normal?

: It takes 4-6 weeks to heal from surgery. If you are not better by then see your surgeon again.  Hope you feel better.

No: Appendicitis is an emergency.  It would need to be removed right away to prevent the infection from spreading - symptoms start at abdominal pain, nausea and fever that gradually worsen over time.  You may not be able to pass gas or have bowel movement because your intestines respond to the inflammation by shutting down.  If you are having these symptoms, you need to consult at the er immediately.

Appendix on right: Appendix is in the right iliac fossa. If the pain is on the left side, it is unlikely to be appendicitis.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Ruptured Appendix: A ruptured appendix is a true emergency because the infection can spread quickly through the abdomen. (typically) right lower abdominal pain with an upset stomach and loss of appetite along with a fever are the early warning signs of appendicitis. Early detection can stop the infection with antibiotic and surgical intervention. Hope this helps!

Appendix: Appendicitis can start with mild pain around the belly button. The pain worsens over time. It can become sharp with loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting & possibly a fever.  The pain usually moves toward the right lower quadrant of abdomen. Bouncing or jolting will often make the pain worse. Appendicitis can  have varying presentations.  If you have severe abdominal pain it is best to get to er.
