Foot pain: I would first try an over the counter orthotic such as those where you can measure your foot at a kiosk like Dr. Scholl's. If the pain persists, I would see a podiatrist.

Yes & no: They do help 4 structural  problems or pressure areas. If there is not a diagnosis it can b hit & miss. When u get custom inserts they should b comfy right away. Go back to the orthotics provider & tell them they r not right. U pay good $ 4 them and they should adjusted 2 help u with ur problem. B insistent & persistent.

Need new orthotics!: If you used to wear them and now they are either too small or they are worn, your body is telling you something. For the pain, rub your foot in the arch area to warm it up. Also,  a nice cold bottle that you can roll your foot on will help decrease the pain and pulsating.

hi, i am having pain with my left foot on the joint of my 2nd toe where my toe meets my foot. by the end of the day i can hardly walk. i wear orthotics, but had been wearing hiking sandals for a while because it is so hot out. my pain is causing me to limp and then its a ripple effect to making my back hurt etc.

Urgent Care: I would suggest a Podiatry and Urgent Care appointment. From your description, a fracture is possible. 
Avoid stress on the area, local ice and elevate the foot. Motrin may be used for pain. The Podiatrist will assess your footwear.

First steps : Plantar fasciitis is all about support. Quit walking barefoot, in sandals or flipflops. Live in a good pair of sneakers. Ice the arches. Try Ibuprofen or Naproxen unless you are allergic or have stomach or ulcer issues. Do calf stretches. If these don't work, orthotics are a reasonable next step.

Arch supportive shoe: If the teen will not wear the orthotics, first, impress to the child that he may have more severe problems the rest of his/her life.  The other option is to buy running shoes or sandals that are built with a lot of support, such as nike, asics, etc.

Several things: Two main problems: peripheral neuropathy(inflammation of the nerves) which the foot to hearts: peripheral  vascular disease which make the circulation slow or absents, that also cause pain.
