Recheck potassium : If a lab test indicated that your potassium was low and you took additional potassium then the  test needs to be repeated to see if the additional potassium was enough (or too much). If potassium is normal and dizziness persists then you need to follow up with your doctor to be evaluated for other causes of dizziness.

is a blood test ph of 7.29 low enough to cause symptoms of acidosis? i have been taking acetezolomide for years. also low potassium, low bicarb, low base etc etc etc. most of the biochemistry anormal. weak nauseas and very dizzy. thanks?

: You have all the typical symptoms of metabolic acidosis and hypokalemia caused by acetazolamide. If treatment needs to be continued, you need alkaline (bicarbonate) and potassium supplement. Please discuss with your primary doctor or better a nephrologist.

sudden dizziness, arms felt cold, nausea, and feeling faint, so went to er. ekg normal, chest x-ray & brain ct & blood tests ok but low potassium. sent home.  can low potassium cause these symptoms?

Not too likely: Potassium usually needs to be pretty low to cause dizziness, and the ECG would be abnormal in that case.  The question to be answered is, why is the potassium low?  Meds?  Diarrhea?  Endocrine problems?  Thorough history and good physical exam probably has the answer.

on february 23 of 2011nowhere i went to the hospital for having low potassium. and im fully recovered, but when i drink soda i start to get dizzy why?

Unclear to me why: This should not be related to history of low potassium although you need yearly lab to make sure that you do not have that again. Why is being dizzy with soda intake? Could it be related to abdominal distension or ulcer disease? Unclear. Need to check with a doctor who knows your medical history and your vital signs to be able to get a better answer.

Anemia : Your symptoms could be from irin deficiency anemia from bleeding from somewhere which includes menstruation. No potassium is not explainable , are you having severe diarrhea or are you taking water pills.

Hypokalemia: Depending on the degree of electrolyte imbalance the more dizzy you can become.  You may be slightly off with regard to your potassium level.  Eat a couple of bananas. They have a lot of potassium,  lettuce (romaine) and kale. Also have good potassium levels.  A balanced diet with 5  helping of fruits and vegetable per day in recommended. Hypokalemia.: Yes , your hypokalemia can be causing  the symptoms of muscle weakness . Consult your physician to check your potassium level .There are many reasons a person can have hypokalemia , it can be due to certain medications or some endocrine and metabolic disorders. In the meantime you should eat food rich in potassium e.G bananas and oranges and get the work up done for hypokalemia.

GET IT CHECKED: You should get it checked with your doctor or the cardiologist.Your husband has chf, we dont know what his ejection fraction is, he is dizzy and having hot flashes.He should see his doc to find out what is going on with him.

No: High potassium does not cause these symptoms. High serum calcium (associated with hyperparathyroidism) can cause weakness, fatigue, nausea and constipation, among other symptoms (possibly to include dizziness), but generally not headaches.
