Not yet: Since there is a bruise there, a local reaction to the swelling and bruise you have can be numbness.  Once it starts to heal, it the numbness persists, than get an evaluation.

Bruise: Don t be concerned.   A good exam and a few blood test should be reassuring if normal. Shin is very prone to bruises (its nature) due to exposure to get hit on it.

See a orthopedic Dr.: Swelling that lasts two years is cause for concern. You need to see an orthopedic dr. That specializes in knee pathology. It may be fluid retention that needs to be drained but i would think that an MRI of that area is indicated at this time as well.

i fell at work on a hard floor and landed on my shin just under my knee and it hurt really bad but its been two weeks and the bruise is getting darker/bigger and spreading down my shin, could i have fractured my shin instead of just bruised it?

: Use your finger to check the shin bone and note of any significant deformity. If the anterior border is smooth and there is no gross deformity, tibia (shin bone) fracture is less likely. The initial bruise is always extending down the by gravity but the color will change slowly to purple then yellowish green. If you have any doubt, go to urgent care for a quick X-ray check. Good luck.

Insect bite: Could be many things: insect bite, splint, bruise , ruptured small vessel. No reason to panic, in most cases something of short term significance. Get well soon.

i hit my right knee on the corner of a door two days ago. it hurt for a bit and had a very slight bruise that was gone the next day. now my shin is numb from the knee to just above the ankle. could this be related? knee slightly tender, but thats it?

: This contusion apparently caused injury to the peroneal nerve or some branches resulting in numbness below the knee.  Fortunately you have no muscle weakness. These nerve injuries repair themselves but the healing may be quite slow. It's worthwhile having an orthopedic surgeon examine and advise you about any therapy and prognosis.
