Unclear etiology: I think dr. Stein grossly overstates the role of serotonin in ibs.  Yes it is involved but  there are limitations on alteration in serotonin metabolism as the sole explanation for the constellation of symptoms observed in patients with ibs.

IBS comes in many...: ...varieties with regard to stool pattern, pain presentation, associated complaints, &amp; it may change. You have not indicated what tests have rendered this diagnosis (&amp; ruled out others), what drugs have been tried (at what doses &amp; for what durations), or even where/when/for how long you experience pain. I hear your frustration, but we can't offer much help with the very limited info you supplied.

gi r/o ibd and dx'd me w/ibs, but things have gotten really bad this week. constant pain. 10-20 bms/day. lots of food in stool totally undigested. maroon stool (home fobt negative though). advice?

so i have this constant pain on the right off my pelvic right near my ovaries. at firs i thought it was ovulation but now im on birth control i dont have a periods. thought it was ibs and got medication for it. my bloating stopped but pain didnt?

had a colonoscopy in july 2021. was bleeding thru the vagina and rectum. everyday i'm in constant pain in the abdomen. now have chest pains. diag tests not showing the prob. after the proc have ibs.can a tear or gas be causing this unbearable pain?

: Yes, I would be concerned about a perforation after the colonoscopy in view of persistent abdominal pain and the chest pain which can be caused by free air under the diaphragm. Consult an abdominal surgeon ASAP for evaluation &amp; appropriate testing.

Headaches: Are very specific to each person.  If your doctor thinks there is a problem inside your head - your brain... Then get an MRI rather than a ct.  The ct is lots of radiation.  The MRI is none.   The MRI is more detailed.  It costs only 250-500 on insurance.  And.. It is more definitive.  Get it only under a doctors supervision.

Muscle pain: Likely to be muscle pain from spasm. You may benefit from local heat, massage, manipulation therapy. Do rule out nerve problem - do you have any pain radiating down your leg?. Hope that helps.
