had a breast reduction 10-1-13. stomach very bloated. still on norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) tabs. had a bm today. is this normal? how long will bloating last?

Belly bloat is ok: Following breast surgery there is a tremendous amount of swelling around the breasts. And where does it go? South! gravity causes the flow of edema fluid down into the tissues of the abdominal wall. This also occurs to a lesser extent with breast augmentation. 
Walking and gentle movements of the arms will help decrease the buildup of swelling and minimize this "bloating". Should be better soon!

my golden retriever puppy jumped on my breast. no lump, no bruise, nothing. but its been 2.5 weeks and its still sore to touch. at what point should i see a dr? how long should it take to not be sore? i did have a breast reduction 6 years ago?

Days: The majority of the initial swelling will diminish over the course of a few days.  However, you will still have some residual swelling that could take several weeks to go away completely. If you are having increased swelling or long term residual swelling, then i recommend going to see your board certified plastic surgeon for a post-op exam.

Depends: Depends upon the experience and technical skills of your surgery.  2-4 hours is usually average. I trust you mean "how long does the operating take?".

Accepted Answer

Scars, shape, self: Prior to consulting, consider whether the size & weight of your breasts warrants undergoing surgery.  Review your personal health history, including scar formation. Consider whether lactation will be a priority for you. Consult with board certified ps, ask to speak to prior patients whose cases were similar to yours. Remember that breast reduction may need to be revisited.

Depends: Please discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Will depend on how quick the surgeon will schedule you. I don't think your insurance will cover for this procedure. However, if this is covered - that will then also depend on how quick you get the authorization from your insurance company-in addition to the surgeon's avalability.

are lymph nodes removed during a cosmetic breast reduction?  do they leave them be? can they tell the difference?  im interested in getting one but after watching youtube geez louise.  i would just worry if they take them with all the extra tissue.

Breast surgery ?'s: A cosmetic breast reduction at age 53 should include a pre-operative digital mammogram or a bilateral MRI of breasts if the patient has a strong family history of breast cancer. The actual surgery does not involve removal of sentinel or other lymph nodes, which are of course important for later surveillance to evaluate breast cancer if detected in remaining breast tissue.

No, : No, he would not need to have his hormone levels checked or take medications after surgery.  Just as in women who have breast reduction, removing the tissue is permanent, although if patients have significant weight gain after the surgery the remaining tissue can enlarge, so he will just need to avoide weight gain.

Medications?: There are a number of reasons for low milk supply, and surgery does not always affect milk supply.  One medication, which is  a natural hormone, nasal oxytocin, may help release the milk.  There may be side effects, so please read about his before you ask your doctor.
