Rare: For every 14,000 women in the UK who give birth, 13,999 make it but one dies, That's pretty rare but not extremely rare. Pregnancy is of course not a guaranteed-safe adventure. In general, being non-pregnant is always safer than being pregnant... but the risk is worth the gain, so people continue to get pregnant and keep our species going. If a woman worries way too much, treatment is available.

Yes: I'm sorry about your dad. In sepsis, the vasculature loses water to the interstitial spaces. And a high body temperature can contribute to the body looking dried out quicker after death.

No: Antibiotics kill bacteria by different mechanisms of action. Bacteriocidal and Bacteriostatic are two ways the drugs inhibit the invading bacteria.
Usually if the correct drug is chosen for the infection the patients immune system and the antibiotic work together to overcome the infection and the patient gets better.

im so scared im going to die from sepsis! is this rare?
