A member asked:

Is it rare to die at birth in the uk im terrified im going to die, or get sepsis. what are the reasons for getting sepsis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare: For every 14,000 women in the UK who give birth, 13,999 make it but one dies, That's pretty rare but not extremely rare. Pregnancy is of course not a guaranteed-safe adventure. In general, being non-pregnant is always safer than being pregnant... but the risk is worth the gain, so people continue to get pregnant and keep our species going. If a woman worries way too much, treatment is available.
