Why has death by sepsis increased in recent times?

Aging population: People are living longer, and there is a wave of aging baby boomers. This causes an increase in the numbers of the elderly, a group that is at increased risk of sepsis. Older people are less able to fight infections.

Not true: Sepsis management has come a long way, and if done per guidelines, has brought down mortality and morbidity dramatically. Still, i agree, a lot of work still needs to be done to bring the rate further down.
