i went to get my nails done the other day. when they were using the electric drill on my nails they cut me a few times. is there any possibility of catching hiv or hepatitis from this? im not sure if they sterilize their tools properly?

i got a manicure and was cut with cuticle nippers and i bled. i asked the tech if the tool was clean and he said they clean with soap and water in between clients, yet i did not witness this happen. am i at risk for hepatitis, hiv or other diseases?

: Nobody has ever been known to catch HIV from an injury during any cosmetic procedure. Almost certainly there is no risk. For additional reassurance, contact the nail salon and ask them to confirm that they either do not reuse instruments or adequately clean them between customers. : Transmission would require the customer immediately preceding you having hepatitis B or C; that customer being cut; the blade then not being cleaned; then shaving you within minutes (with blood still wet); and cutting you with the razor. Obviously the chance of all these events is vanishingly low. Even then, the chance of transmission would be low. And probably you had HBV vaccine and are immune.
