Medications: . Patients with oab have abnormal involuntary bladder contractions/spasms causing them to have urinary urgency, frequency and incontinence.  Bladder diet: avoid bladder irritants like caffeine, alcohol, soda, citrus juices.Medications: bladder relaxing medicines may be prescribed.

Ask Dr: Your doctor can prescribe medications once you explain your efforts. Even if they are not successful, there are other possibilities. Botox and embedded stimulus devices exist. They're more invasive, risky and expensive but sometimes help when simpler treatments have not.

Several reasons: Overactive bladder means the bladder is sending signals that you need to go.  Sometimes the signal is too much to hold back and the bladder contracts.  If your urinary sphincter can't hold it back then you leak.  That's called urge incontinence.  Sounds like you need to get checked out by your doctor or a urologist. OAB: Overactive bladder is generally not treated with surgery but instead is more of a nerve issue so modulating the nerves that control bladder function is how we treat OAB.  This could be medications, nerve stimulation or Botox or some combination of these.  Initial treatment voiding on a schedule only when you say to go and not giving in to abnormal urges (bladder training).

Hello. : Hello. Don't know if you are a man or a woman.  I wouldn't jump the gun by focusing in on bladder cancer as a cause.  The urologist will do a systematic evaluation, so that hopefully the cause can be determined and treated and so that more serious causes can be ruled out.  It isn't worth working oneself up at this point, because the reason for your symptoms hasn't been determined. Take care.

i may be taking an oral sedative for an upcoming dental procedure. with having overactive bladder, is this not a good idea since it may exacerbate overactive bladder symptoms / incontinence?

: I do not think that a sedative would really cause trouble with the bladder. Have you had this experience in the past? Speak with the doctor and see what they think.

Probably not: While the answer to your first question is "maybe", an overactive bladder might even be aggravated by a c-section (the bladder is normally pushed out of the way during the procedure).  This is such a weak indication that a c-section would be considered purely elective and specific benefits to the bladder would not necessarily be expected.

Yes. But...: Ms causes poor bladder function and retention of urine. This is due to the effect on the nerve supply of the bladder. However, for blood in the urine you need to rule out causes like stones, ulcers, and cancers. This is done by cystoscopy.
