Part of risk for: Heart disease. You can reduce carbohydrates, lose weight and exercise at least 30 minutes each day and consult your doctor for advice about diet.

Modify your diet: Sounds like your TG's respond to diet. Alcohol and carbohydrates will raise TG's significantly. I would work on reducing your alcohol intake and/or reducing your simple carbohydrates. Sugars and starches such as rice, bread and pasta will raise them.  You report a high number, but I really get concerned over 500. You may wa to wet with a dietician at some point.

is it a good sign if after improving my diet my vit d level raised 5 points in 6 months? can my level be raised more without supplements?

Depends...: rather than an absolute number, where you moved on the laboratories scale is the key point. We are finding that a lot of people have low vitamin D and that goes along with a lot of minor ailments (probably at least somewhat BY COINCEDENCE.... people with poor diets might be poor, have bad dental care, smoke, etc. and have low vitamin D). 
Really decent sun exposure will increase vitamin D level.

Flaxseed: I have tried Flaxseed but had no measurable success. However if you have high triglycerides at 28 that could be a precursor for Diabetes later in life. I suggest you check with your primary care Doc.

B-vitamins and ect: Check with you md 1st but you may consider supplements of b-vitamins such as a super b-complex. In addition you may consider taking panax ginseng which may help with your fatigue as well as improve athletic performance. If you decide to take these, monitor your BP and report significant elevations to your md  I do wonder, which antihistamine are you taking and how often do you take it?

Accepted Answer

Not true: Training and practice may help raise score on intelligence tests, but only a very little bit. But they cannot actually change IQ. Dietary supplements for sure do not. Such claims are quackery and should be ignored. Limit online research to legitimate scientific websites etc. Avoid non-professional sites and all resources with products to sell, like test training or dietary supplements.

my vitamin d was 18 and it raised to 31 from diet alone, so far. i can't tolerate supplements due to chronic health condition and cannot take vit. d pills. is this encouraging that i've been able to raise it with diet? i plan to continue eating well?

: Lots of speculation and myths regarding Vitamin D, very little medical science. Sure, eat fish, omega 3 fatty acid, fish oil or (in San Diego) get some sun. Last is probably the most fun

Yes: Calcium supplements can potentially raise the serum calcium level, but in an otherwise healthy person they would typically not do so.  The bigger question is why a 26 year old person would have osteoporosis, and it usually would take more than a vitamin d deficiency; if you haven't had one a thorough work up by an endocrinologist would be indicated.

my appetite is gone. force myself to eat. stress? remeron gave me an appetite but raised my triglycerides. lexapro (escitalopram) makes nausea worse. what will help?

Get seen: I'm concerned you have a physical lesion obstructing your gut. Even if you don't, you need to find the reason. Sensible people -- even physicians -- don't buy "stress" as an easy answer. "eustress" is good -- it motivates you to excel. "distress" means you're helpless / feel helpless; if you're in an abusive situation, your physician can perhaps help u escape;are you so strung out you can't eat?
