Advanced: once an abscess becomes acute, and extends through tissue, it becomes what we term a cellulitis.
This can often this be accompanied by fever.
If this continues, bacteria can enter the bloodstream, and/or keep spreading through tissue to vital areas like the heart or brain. Death may result in these advanced situations.
Get seen ASAP! 
People have died from advanced cellulitis throughout history!

Call Dentist ASAP: This needs to be treated at once. Without treatment the infection can continue to spread and cause more problems.

Rare: It would be much more likely for it to spread into the neck or floor of mouth with worsening swelling, fever, pain, difficulty opening mouth.  Those with these kind of infections that have spread are acutely ill.  After it has spread it can then cause sepsis.

if your taking an antibotic for a tooth abscess can it still spread to your neck and brain.

Not likely: The reason you are taking an antibiotic is to kill all of the bacteria causing your infection. So that should not happen. But all antibiotics are not effective against all infections.  If your pain and swelling are increasing, this means the antibiotic you are taking is not working against your infection.  Call your dentist asap and  let them know this and the antibiotic will be changed.

Maybe: If this is the case, we recommend you be seen asap for an evaluation.  Depending on when you started the antibiotic, you may already be behind the ability of an oral antibiotic to be effective and may need IV medication. Additionally, it may be necessary to drain the abscess in order to remove infection and allow the antibiotic to be effective. Thanks.

Dental disease: Yes, this has the potential to be very severe and dangerous and your daughter should be seen by a pediatric dentist and perhaps an oral surgeon.  The cause and need for treatment can only be ascertained by the examining professional.  Hope she feel better soon and that this clears up quickly.

Call dentist: Did your dentist prescribe antibiotics in addition? Call the dentist to make sure that the swelling is normal.  There is always some swelling after an extraction on a normal basis and it may take a while due to the severity of the infection.  Check with the dentist to alleviate any concerns.

OTC and DDS!: All the otc pain medications that you can take on your own have about equal onset of relief. Take what works best for you- advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache. However, the best and quickest relief will be obtained by seeing a dentist to determine the cause of the pain and start treatment. Thing can go downhill quickly, so don't delay!

No: First, it's extremely unlikely that a tooth abscess can cause pain in an armpit. As a matter of fact I have never heard or seen that in over 40 years of dental practice. Secondly, pain does not refer from one side to the other. Having said that, any infection can spread to other parts of the body. See dentist for infected tooth and see physician for proper diagnosis of armpit pain.
